I was hoping to get the new web site up and running soon and I have done quite lot of work on it so far.
Unfortunately it will delayed a bit longer due to illness.
Don’t let that stop you making suggestions though

When I started the Tone Factory I always had it in mind that a web site would be a better idea than a blog – such as this is.
A web site would be a much better idea as I can host much more meaningful stuff such as mp3 tone samples etc. I could also build much better web pages and make it a lot easier for people to navigate to what they are looking for.
This blog will continue as a blog for news and such like, but old articles and downloads will gradually be discarded in favour of the new website. The tones are actually getting better so it’s a good kind of clean up job as well.
I expect this to take about two weeks.
Another thing to expect is better discriptions of the tone (or samples), and I have it in mind to pack the whole collection into a aptly named parent folder, with subfolders to save you the trouble of doing the same.
So when you download the bundle you get everything in one go. Consecutive downloads will overwrite any chains withe same name – unless you don’t allow it. Alternatively you may wish to rename the old folder to stop any of that happening – but like I said the sounds are getting better so you might prefer not to
It’s late – am I making sense?

The latest pack from the Tone Factory!
The Signature Series, classic tones of great players
Grab now!
http://stash.reaper.fm/v/4003/Signature%20series.rar
These mostly clean-ish tones (except Joe W) and use LePou’s fabulous Hybrit (Joe W uses ABG Series 60). you will also need Voxengo’s Boogex – and REAPER of course
Includes guitar chains for:
Day Tripper
Pete T – can’t explain
Jerry G ( aka Grateful Ted)
Joe W – Life’s been good
Larry C – for vintage semi’s, but sounds good with anything
Steve – the joker in the pack
For the correct tone try to consider the guitarist (and guitar) they are modelled on. I can promise you now the Larry C tone won’t make you sound like Larry Carlton, unless (a) you have a vintage Gibson semi) and (b) you play like the man, if you can do that you don’t really need these chains
I have tested then all with a Les Paul, a Strat and a 335 type, and they all sound good.

All based on Vintage Steely Dan solos.
Peg – try lead picking Bridge/middle pup
Kid (Charlemagne)- Neck pickup
Bod – Bodhishatva – neck/middle
Grainy Dan – slightly over the top, suitable for all steely Dan type solos
These were made whilst playing along to the actual tracks, apart from Grainy Dan which is one I made up and sounds unfucking believable here.
They sound pretty darn close on my gear – I wonder how well they work out for other people with different guitars and stuff

Here’s four new Track Templates for soloing on top of jazzy or bluesy kind of stuff, in the vain of Steely Dan and Mark Knopfler.
You shouldn’t need to do anything other than load them since they all use Boogex Internal IR’s
Some people asked me why I make Track Templates instead of FX chains. The answer is it helps me because I can name the track, so I know what the chain was before I start tweaking it

Thanks for the feedback to those that posted
Apologies for any problems associated with Impulses
I want to iron out the problems I created by using the Guitar Hacks IR’s, so here is the deal. I am going to replace them with the nearest equivelent of Voxengo’s own Internal IR’s.
In all likleyhood they will be just as good, but won’t be the same exactly.
More new ones on the way
Coming soon is quite an eclectic signature collection with names like
Day Tripper
Joe W
S Dan
Jerry G
Larry C
Steve M ….and
Pete Who?
You have to guess who they sound like.
You will be needing Le Pou’s HyBrit and ABG’s ISX when it is released, so I hope this is not premature.
More later

I just uploaded a pack of 4 new tones for you to try.
These are the same in concept to the Eight Vintage Amps. They use the ABG Series 60, Boogex and FreeverbToo
There are two Country tones, one is a bit dirty while the other is clean with a pingpong delay.
Then there are two more smooth overdriven sounds that could be used in any number of ways.
This time they are Track Templates, not FX Chains. So you have to put them in the Track templates folder if you want to find them again.
One more thing that is quite important
If you make a copy of your GuitarHacks impulse folder (That new folder needs to be named “GuitarHacks Impulses” ) and put in your FXChains folder these Templates should then load the correct impulse from there - so the full path will read
C:\Documents and Settings\Kev\Application Data\REAPER\FXChains\GuitarHacks Impulses
Once you have done this all future all my Chains/Templates will use the correct impulse on loading
Here’s a couple of quick audio samples
Country Pong
This is Smooth
The CountryBlue pack is in the menu under Downloads
It would be very helpful if some kind person could confirm they are loading the Guitar Hacks IR’s when you follow the directions above

I will be uploading some clean Country and Texas blues chains in the next day or two for you twang fans.
They will take the form of REAPER track templates, if you are not familiar with how that works don’t be afraid to ask the nice peopleat the REAPER FORUM .

The plugins you will need for these are the ABG Series 60, and the C-15, plus Voxengo Boogex and FreeverbToo
If you download the 8 Vintage amps you may be wondering what impulses to use with Boogex. These were designed using the highly acclaimed GuitarHack impulses which you find in a link in the left menu.
Naturally you can use the impulse that will load by default when you load the chain, but it will probably sound harsh.

BsmanClean – Center 0
BsmanOD – GuitarHack edge 45

Plex – Edge 0

TheTwinClean – GuitarHack Edge Straight -20
TheTwinOD – GuitarHack Between Straight -10
The TwinBS10 – GuitarHack Between Straight -10

VoxBrian – GuitarHack Edge 45
VoxClean – GuitarHack Edge 45
All of these FX chains use either the Series 60, or the C-15 from AGB. They also incorporate Voxengo’s Boogex and FreeverbToo. you should be able to find links to all of these plugs in the menu on the left – eventually
